Jay is a corporate lawyer and former high tech executive.

As one of the senior partners of Toronto firm Shibley Righton LLP, he has spent more than 25 years as an advisor to small and medium sized companies, most of them in technology-driven businesses.

His record of closing more than four hundred “deals” (financings, business combinations, strategic alliances, etc. – not only across Canada, but throughout the U.S., and abroad) for those clients over the years ranks him as one of the most experienced lawyers in Canada's technology sector.

Originally trained as a tax lawyer, Jay is most well known for his unconventional, “out-of-the-box” approach to finding solutions to problems.

He has also written many articles published in professional and trade journals, is the author of three law books, and has been over the years a director and/or officer of numerous private companies and non-profit organizations.
